“Sports can bring peace and equality without any boundary, race, culture or nation. We as sports people can become goodwill ambassadors and help spread peace globally,” said Mirza.
On the fourth anniversary of the 26/11 attacks, Welingkar Institute of Management Development & Research (WeSchool) had organised Global Peace: Be the change that you want to see. A research report presented by WeSchool students highlighted how maintaining peace at personal level would help in maintaining peace in society.
Apart from Mirza, the panelists at the meet included Vivek Oberoi, actor and ambassador of Global Peace Initiative, Niranjan Hiranandani, co-founder of the Hiranandani Group, D Sivanandan, former director general of police, Maharashtra, Shailesh Haribhakti, chairman of BDO Consulting Pvt Ltd and Dr SS Mantha, chairman of All India Council for Technical Education.
