Srinagar-based excise office gets Presidential award

Tassine Sultan, an officer of customs and central excise commisionorate, Chandigarh zone, presently posted as assistant director, financial intelligence unit (FIU-IND), New Delhi, have been granted Presidential Award for specially distinguished record of service on the occasion of Republic Day, 2014.

Tassine Sultan, an officer of customs and central excise commisionorate, Chandigarh zone, presently posted as assistant director, financial intelligence unit (FIU-IND), New Delhi, have been granted Presidential Award for specially distinguished record of service on the occasion of Republic Day, 2014.

Sultan, who hails from Srinagar, had joined department of customs and central excise in 1991, and had remained posted at various places
- Kashmir, Ludhiana, Amritsar and Chandigarh. The officer is also a well known golfer too.

Sultan has supervised in many seizures of goods valued at over Rs 76 crores. Besides anti-smuggling efforts, the officer has also been involved in implementation the NDPS Act and has played a significant role in the seizure of 48.25 kg of heroin. He has also received a cash award of Rs 5 lakh.
