A day after the administrator of Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) slapped a peon, all third and fourth grade employees of the department went on strike on Monday in protest against the act. The strike was withdrawn after the Huda chief, Praveen Kumar, admitted that he acted in a fit of rage. Kumar convinced the employees union that his step might have been wrong but his intention was not wrong at all.

"We have held a healthy meeting with the administrator. He talked to us very politely and we agreed to resume work from toady," said Sadhu Ram, president of the employees' union, adding that the police complaint will be withdrawn.

Mukesh Kumar, a fourth-grade employee, who is posted at Huda's estate office (EO) at Sector 56, lodged a complaint against the administrator on Sunday. "It was just my anger that virtually compelled me. I wanted him to teach a lesson. I agree that the step was not appropriate. My intention was not to humiliate him at all," said the administrator.
