A nine-day-old child, who was declared stillborn by a doctor in the Safdarjung hospital last week, died in New Delhi on Saturday.

Born to Rakesh and Bharti Babbar on May 5, the baby was declared stillborn. But when Rakesh, an auto driver, took him to the burial ground, the boy started moving his hand and was later admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital.

The baby was delivered after only seven months of pregnancy and weighed less than one kilogram. He was suffering from jaundice, said hospital authorities.

Meanwhile, an inquiry panel ordered by the hospital administration had charged two doctors with "error in judgement" for declaring him dead. A junior doctor was also directed to undergo a 15-day training on handling of newborn babies
