Stop the infiltration

This refers to the report India’s charm vs Khaleda’s hope (March 21). Bangladesh Prime Minister Khaleda Zia’s pre-election visit presents India an opportunity to ask her to stop the infiltration of Bangladeshis to West Bengal and the North-eastern states.
Begum Zia’s double standards are evident from the fact that she talks of good relations with neighbours and, at the same time, castigates India in election rallies. On many occasions, she has mentioned India’s links with terrorists in Bangladesh when everyone knows that it’s the ISI that is instigating Islamic terror.

Set own house in order
Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh’s allegations against the Congress and Sonia Gandhi are baseless. It is strange that instead of setting his own house in order, he’s pointing fingers at the Congress, be it on his phone being tapped or the law and order situation in UP. Singh should refrain from blaming others for his own ills.

Farewell, Kurien
Verghese Kurien’s exit from GCMMF is sad but it was inevitable. He should have realised earlier that there is no point in sticking to an organisation, even though it was built by him over a long period. His exit would have been graceful had he retired earlier and let a competent lieutenant take over his work.

Punish the guilty
It is regrettable that the Kerala assembly has passed a resolution for the release of Nasir Madani on humanitarian ground (How to use a terrorist, March 20). Anybody responsible for the death of innocent people should be punished severely. Nations can be strong only if they are fair and just.

Is Sachin special?
If Sourav Ganguly can be kept out of the series for his poor performance, why not Sachin Tendulkar? Are the rules different for two players of the same team?
