The strikers roughed up a senior official of the company in the morning while the police personnel on duty either looked the other way or moved away.

Though the Gurgaon Expressway was affected briefly, the strikers caused no major disruptions.

Other major factories affected were the Sunbeam Casting and Microteck where about 1,000 workers remained on strike. But for most other units, it was business as usual.

Surinder K. Chaudhary, senior V-P (HR), Rico Auto, said the situation outside was very tense and not conducive to talks.
