As part of their protest against the recent lathicharge of security personnel over students demanding restoration of students’ union and other mass irregularities in BHU, the students are circulating a 21-point hand-bill addressed to the vice-chancellor here on the BHU campus.
The hand-bill carries several question such as “For how long the security personnel will let loose reign of terror on students?, “who gave the right to security personnel to shower lathis on students?” and “Why the parents fell victims to September 19 lathicharge?”
The hand-bill also contains several questions in connection with alleged: “Massive corruption in purchase of books for Central Library,” “Why Harikesh Singh Committee report on death of Yogesh Rai is yet not made public?,” “Where are the authorities spending the amount which is being charged from the students under Students Union head?,” etc. Ironically, BHU V-C Prof Panjab Singh denies that the students were lathicharged during a protest on the varsity campus on September 19.
“There was no lathicharge on students protesting on Tuesday last week,” claimed the V-C today at the inauguration of Media Conference Hall in BHU despite the fact that almost all the newspapers carried photographs showing security personnel beating up students and blood oozing out from their bodies.
