Surface-to-air missile Akash test fired

Akash was test fired twice in succession on Saturday from a mobile launcher at the ITR within a gap of five minutes.

For the third time in as many days, the surface-to-air missile Akash was test fired from the Interim Test Range (ITR), 15 km from Balasore on Monday, defence sources said.

The sleek missile, with a range of 25 km, was fired from a mobile launcher at 12:10 am with a moving object attached to a Pilotless Target Aircraft (PTA) as target, the sources said.
