It even picked up some suspects from a nationalised bank.

Anil Kumar Rao, joint commissioner of police, Faridabad, himself conducted surprise checks at a Punjab National Bank branch in Nehru Ground.

“The idea was to ensure security,” Rao said, adding, “We picked up some suspects from the PNB branch.”

Also, weapons of security guards posted outside banks and CCTV cameras were checked. Such checks were also conducted in Sector 37 and Sarai Kwaja areas.

“We conducted checks at many banks in the area and questioned some youths too,” said Darshan Lal Malik, ACP Sarai Kwaja.

The police drill assumes significance in the wake of a R6 lakh robbery at Sector-15, about a month ago. “Every effort is being made to ensure no untoward incident takes place inside or outside the banks,” Rao added.
