Survey begins for AB Road corridor

THE SPACE survey for 11.54 km long A B Road corridor has begun to ensure that its construction begins by November 15. The road from Niranjanpur ? Rajiv Gandhi statue will be developed to execute the first phase of Rs 863-crore Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) within a year.

THE SPACE survey for 11.54 km long A B Road corridor has begun to ensure that its construction begins by November 15. The road from Niranjanpur – Rajiv Gandhi statue will be developed to execute the first phase of Rs 863-crore Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) within a year.

Union Urban Development Ministry has sanctioned Rs 98 crore to Indore City Transport Services Limited (ICTSL) under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) for A B Road corridor. ICTSL Chief Executive Officer Chandramauli Shukla said that global tenders would be floated for construction of the road whose width would vary from 60 meters to 251 meters.

Meanwhile, ICTSL has received offers from Jaipur, Raipur and Rajkot to give them consultancy on introducing city buses similar to the ones launched in Indore. It has similar offers from Ludhiana, Amritsar and Jalandhar. ICTSL is charging Rs 7 lakh per city per month as consultancy fee.
