Safety of the train passengers is my top priority. I never compromise with safety of the passengers. Besides, I always expect my staff to follow rules and regulations sincerely.
What measures are being taken by NCR to enhance capacity and safety?
Various measures are being taken to enhance capacity of the NCR including construction of third track between Aligarh and Ghaziabad, Palwal and Bhoteshwar. We are doubling tracks between Tundla and Agra. Besides, we are constructing Tundla by-pass and connecting Etmadpur to Metawali. We will be constructing third and fourth track between Kanpur Central and Panki stations.
There will also be doubling of track between Manikpur and Chheoki in Allahabad. Not only this, signalling system between Ghaziabad and Kanpur is being modernised. Communication system between Ghaziabad and Mughalsarai and between Palwal and Jhansi will be strengthen thus helping drivers to have direct communication with control room.
We are also going to improve interlocking system in Jhansi division. These measures will help in enhancing safety of passengers considerably. Apart from this, we have identified 108 level crossings under NCR in UP where road overbridges are planned to be built which will help reduce the number of accidents.
What steps are being taken to tackle corruption among TTEs?
Vigilance team of the Railways keep a watch on corrupt elements among TTEs. The team often carries out drives against them and takes stern action if anyone is caught indulging in malpractices.
What are you doing to check activities of touts?
Railway Protection Force and Vigilance team take measures to help check activities of touts. However, the measures taken by the Railways can just help in reducing activities of wrong-doers. We cannot completely eliminate such people from society as it is very difficult to change their mindset.
What steps are being taken by NCR to tackle crime against women?
We will soon be deploying RPF lady constables' squad whose duty will be to provide security to train passengers and check offences being committed by women in the trains and at platforms. Besides, we are making efforts to co-ordinate the activities of RPF and GRP at all levels, which would help in checking crime to a large extent.
