Tata Indicom launches services in J&K

Tata Indicom became the fourth cellular operator-cum-internet service provider to launch services in Jammu and Kashmir.

Tata Indicom on Thursday became the fourth cellular operator-cum-internet service provider to launch services in Jammu and Kashmir.

The high-speed internet business of Tata Teleservices, Photon, and other cellular services was launched at a function here.

Tata Teleservices Chief Operating Officer (Jammu and Kashmir) Atul Kansal said that the internet service Photon was 10 times faster than those of other internet service providers operating in the state. He said there was huge business potential to be tapped in the state.

"With significant internet penetration in India, it has become crucial for telecom service providers to meet consumer expectations. The demand for internet connectivity is increasing rapidly and with computer sales showing exponential growth, there is huge demand for wireless high speed internet access," he added.

Irfan Ahmad Bhat, a franchisee of Tata Indicom services, said the response to services has been encouraging so far. "Even before the services were launched, we received a large number of inquiries about the products and services," he added.
