Finance Minister P Chidambaram may be getting ready to throw his service tax net wider and extend the 10% service tax to 30 other services to mop up a whopping Rs 20,000 cr as revenue.

Sources say that Chidambaram might extend the 10 per cent service tax to 30 other services to mop up a whopping Rs 20,000 crore as revenue from service tax alone in the next financial year. So far, 70 services are covered under the service tax net.
