Mishra has talked about financial irregularities taking place in the university.
Among them are payment of Rs 30 lakh to security guards and using Rs 12.75 lakh under the pretext of publishing university magazines, which were never published.
Prof Mishra said the convocation programme had been proposed for March 10. However, given the situation, it was not possible to have the function. He said the Institute of Mass Communication and Journalism was not a duly approved department of the university. It was a temporary arrangement made by the V-C. It is noteworthy that a tussle has been going on between FO SP Singh and director of institution Prof RD Rai. Rai was demanding payment clearance for stipend teachers in the department while the FO said he would give not any money in the name of the institution. The tussle took an ugly turn when angered over the insulting attitude by a student of Journalism Department, the FO along with a police force entered the classroom on February 23 and ordered for a lathicharge on students, adding fuel to fire.
Reacting to it, students of Journalism Department along with Prof Rai attacked the guest room and manhandled the FO. Later, on a written complaint, the police registered a case against Rai and 50 other unnamed students. Police also raided Rai’s residence.
Taking advantage of the situation, president of students union Rajiv Pandey has also framed serious charges against Prof Rai and had lodged an FIR against Rai.
Pandey had issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the district administration to arrest Rai which did not go down well with the students.
