Teenager held for kidnapping boy

A seven-year-old boy was rescued by the police within 17 hours after he was kidnapped from his Jari Mari home in Andheri (East) on Wednesday, reports Megha Sood.

A seven-year-old boy was rescued by the police within 17 hours after he was kidnapped from his Jari Mari home in Andheri (East) on Wednesday.

Mohammad Ikram Shefi (19), was arrested from a lodge in Kalyan where he had kept the boy, Mehfooz.

Shefi, during interrogation, allegedly revealed that Mehfooz’s father was responsible for his losing a job at a welding factory.

Shefi called up the boy’s mother Fatima and told her that her husband Abdul Rehman Khan had met with an accident at his workplace, Kamal welding factory, a kilometer away from their one-room chawl in Andheri east. Fatima rushed to her husband, leaving the house unlocked and her three children unattended.

Surprised to find her husband all right, she told him about the mysterious call. Soon, they received a call from Shefi, who demanded a ransom of Rs 1 lakh The couple called the Sakinaka police who tracked down Shefi.
