Temperatures continue to rise
TEMPERATURES CONTINUED to rise across the State as April draws to a close, giving denizens quite a tough time. On Thursday, temperatures all across the State were recorded on the higher side with Gwalior, Sheopur Kalan and Hoshangabad recording a maximum day temperature above the 43 degrees Celsius mark.

Temperatures are about two to three degrees above normal of the season and in coming days they would continue to rise, Regional Meteorological Centre director Dr D P Dubey said.
The City too posted another high, recording the highest of the season at 40.8 degrees Celsius, just a notch above the 40.7 degrees recorded on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, the temperature in the City had climbed down just a wee bit to be recorded at 40.2 degrees Celsius. The nights have also turned quite uncomfortable with a high of 25.5 recorded on Thursday, two degrees above the normal of the season.
The effect of the scorching sun was seen in the Capital, with streets practically deserted in the afternoons. Those who had to venture out took full precautions against the soaring mercury.
Coolers are running at high speed at homes and every other precaution is being taken for the protection against the deadly weather.
The consumption of traditional and fizzy cool drinks have increased and stalls of sugarcane juice, mango juice, limejuice have come up in different corners. Fruits like watermelon are being sold like hot cakes.
In other parts of the State, Indore recorded 39.9 degrees Celsius and 22.8 degrees maximum and minimum temperatures respectively, Gwalior 43.5 degrees and 27.4 degrees and Jabalpur - 41.5 degrees and 28.4 degrees.
