Tendulkar, who needs one more century to reach 100 international hundreds, began by facing throwdowns from the team's video analyst, Dhananjay, for a long time.

He then came into the spinners' net and faced offie R Ashwin, left-armer Pragyan Ojha and leggie Rahul sharma. Soon he was coming down the track and hitting rasping on-drives that had bowling coach Eric Simons and coach Duncan Fletcher running for cover. "Told you not to stand there," was the Master Blaster's reaction.

Tendulkar finished the practice session with a stint against right-arm pacer Varun Aaron and a few net bowlers.

This was his first nets with the Indian team since the England tour, where he broke his left big toe.
