BJP and other saffron organisation leaders reached the village demanding action against the accused. Heavy force has been deployed in view of tension in the area.

The incident took place in Runukata village on Agra outskirts.

According to reports, the madarsa student caught hold of an 11-year-old girl when she was going to relieve herself. The student then dragged the girl, tied her hands and tried to rape her. He however ran away after seeing some passers-by. The girl informed her family and villagers gathered near the madarsa.

When police tried to shoo away the mob, women from the village resisted and tension mounted. Police did not allow the mob to enter the madarsa and identify the suspect.

“A case has been registered and search is on. Required force has been deployed in the village,” said SP City RK Singh.
