Aijaz Hussain Khwaja, arrested by the special cell of the Delhi Police on Monday for allegedly supplying money to suspected terror operatives, was one of the 44 winners of the President's National Awards for artisans and handicrafts in 2003, police said.

Police had recovered 2.05 kg RDX and Rs 49 lakh in cash from his possession when he was arrested on Monday.

Police claim that Khwaja used to collect money sent through hawala channels by Pakistan-based terrorist Mukhtar Ahmed and supply it to suspected terrorists as per his directions.

Police said he had already supplied Rs three crore to various militants operating in the country.

Forty-three-year-old Hussian, who has been living in Jangpura locality of South Delhi for some time, was arrested when he reached the Lodhi Road area in a car to apparently hand over the cash and explosives to someone.
