The ban on plastic bags in Delhi is not working

It is shameful to learn that selfish interests of a few people are leading to pollution of the entire city.

The report Is Delhi losing its fight against plastic bags? (August 28) was alarming. It is shameful to learn that selfish interests of a few people are leading to pollution of the entire city. The ban on the use of plastic bags is being flouted openly. It is important for the judiciary to intervene and put the offenders behind bars. It should also penalise the Delhi government for letting the problem escalate to its present level. All plastic bag-manufacturing units should also be sealed immediately.
