Three businessmen were kidnapped in two separate incidents by suspected terrorists in Assam's Karimganj district, official sources said on Silchar on Wednesday.

Two businessmen, identified as Gautam Roy and Bijit Pal were kidnapped by masked men when they were going to a weekly market at Damcherra in a car near the Assam-Tripura -Mizoram border on Tuesday.
The ultras, dressed in army fatigue kidnapped them at Medlicherra under Patharkandi police station and demanded Rs 2 lakh as ransom.
In another incident, a rubber plantation owner was kidnapped by unidentified persons from his house in remote Gamaria area under Ramakrishnanagar police station in the district on Monday, according to a delayed report.
The police have launched a massive search operation in the area which have witnessed a spate of incidents in the recent weeks by ultras who are suspected to have come in from neighbouring Tripura.
