Three-day health fair to begin tomorrow

THE THREE-DAY free ‘Swasth Mela’ will begin on Bal Vinay Mandir school premises on February 23. Mayor Dr Uma Shashi Sharma, Additional Collector Rameshwar Gupta and SP Adarsh Katyar reviewed the preparations for the Mela at a meeting held yesterday.
They inspected the stalls to be set up at the Mela, health check-up spots, traffic and parking areas and other facilities to be provided to the patients. To make the Mela beneficial to maximum number of people, services of various organisations are being requisitioned.
Doctors of Indian Medical Association would render services at the camp, which will be held under the guidance of MP Sumitra Mahajan. Free operation theatre, ambulance and medical test services would be provided at the Mela.
A door-to-door campaign was also being conducted in the rural areas to create awareness till now about 20,000 families had been contacted and information obtained about their health problems and about 3,000 patients have been identified for treatment at the camp. Help of Chemists Association, Pharma Association, Radiologist association, Pathologist Association and other social organisations would be sought during the event.
Free hearing aids and artificial limbs would also be distributed among the needy. A health awareness exhibition would also be organised at the programme. The meeting was attended by MP representatives Anju Makhija, Rajesh Agrawal, Chandraprakash Makhija, Sudhir Dandekar, IMC Additional Commissioner Ramesh Bhandari and representatives of various social organisations, among others.
