Three women of a family were found murdered at their residence at Inderpuri in Kanpur, police said on Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Julie (21), Champa Devi (52) and Shivkumari (70), they said.
Julie and Champa were the daughter and wife of PK Gupta, an employee in the Uttar Pradesh Public Works Department.
The incident came to light when Gupta returned from office late in the evening and found the bodies lying in a pool of blood. Their throats were slit with sharp edged weapons.
Police found three glasses of water and sweets on a table pointing that the assailants were known to the Gupta family.
Robbery was suspected to be the motive of the incident.
The bodies have been sent for postmortem and further investigation was on, police said.
