Tiger attacks fisherman

A fisherman was seriously injured today when a tiger attacked him in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district, official sources said.

A fisherman was seriously injured today when a tiger attacked him in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district, official sources said.

Joydev Haldar (45), a resident of Gopalganj village under Kultali area, had gone to catch fish near the Heda Bhanga forest in Jharkhali area when he was attacked by the tiger, sources said.

The animal left Haldar and fled away after other fishermen raised noises on seeing the wild cat attack their companion.

Halder has been admitted to Jamtala hospital, they said.

On Tuesday last, a fisherman was killed by a tiger in Gosaba area of the district. The fisherman was pushing his boat which had got struck in the silt when the tiger attacked him.
