TISS gangrape victim tests positive for cannabis

The US national studying in TISS here, who was allegedly gangraped by six youths, was tested positive for cannabis, indicating that she may have smoked or inhaled it when others were taking the drug on the day of the incident.

The US national studying in TISS here, who was allegedly gangraped by six youths, was tested positive for cannabis, indicating that she may have smoked or inhaled it when others were taking the drug on the day of the incident. "The urine sample has traces of cannabis components. The victim has either smoked the drug or inhaled it," a source from forensic science laboratory told PTI.

The experts have also sought the clothes of the accused to gather further scientific details in the case, the source added. "We have already got the clothes of the victim. We have written a letter to the police asking them to provide the clothes of the accused to detect traces of semen," the source added.

The 23-year-old TISS student, who alleged that her drink was spiked, told the police that she did not smoke despite the accused forcing her. "I did not want to drink but one of the friends (the accused) forced me to drink alcohol. I consumed vodka and later beer in the bar. I did not smoke," she said in her statement to the police.

The test results of the other forensic samples taken from the victim as well as the accused are expected to be ready by next week, the source added.
