Jennifer Lopez had a nip slip on stage, Angelina Jolie's right leg made its presence felt rather prominently and despite warnings, Sacha Baron Cohen gate-crashed the Oscars red carpet in his Dictator avatar. Here are some of the best Oscar 2012 moments.

1 Billy Crystal's opening montage

Ninth time host Billy Crystal's opening montage, was a tribute all the Oscar nominations and he superimposed himself in all the films including The Artist, The Descendants, Moneyball among others. But what took the cake was Crystal's kiss with George Clooney in a spoof scene from The Descendants.

Whether or not anyone noticed Angelina Jolie presenting the Screenplay Oscars, everyone definitely noticed her right leg on stage, begging for attention. Within minutes of her red carpet appearance, Twitter had a new profile, @AngiesRightLeg. It last had 26,856 followers on the micro-blogging site.

3 JLo's nip slip

Soon after Jennifer Lopez came on stage to present the Best Makeup and Costume Design award with Cameron Diaz, Huffington Post tweeted the possiblity of JLo's wardrobe malfunction.

“It was barely there – let’s call it the nip slip that wasn’t -- but Lopez almost had an embarrassing moment while presenting an Oscar on stage with Cameron Diaz. Her low-cut dress was stunning, but perhaps she should have made sure she was taped in there a little better,” the website said.

4 Meryl Streep's Oscar speech
As soon as she was presented the Oscar for Best Actress for her role in The Iron Lady, a spirited Meryl Streep exclaimed, "When they called my name, I had this feeling I could hear half of America going, 'Oh no. Come on ... Her, again?' You know. But, whatever!"

5 Jean Dujardin's expletive

Jean Dujardin used the F-word in French during his Oscar speech. He finished the speech with a strongly-worded expression of gratitude in French. Asked about his use of an expletive later on, Dujardin smiled and said, in English: "Uh, yeah. I'm sorry."

6 Christopher Plummer, the oldest Oscar winner

Christopher Plummer (82) became the oldest actor to win an Oscar award. On receiving the award for Best Supporting actor, Plummer asked the Oscar statuette, "You're only two years older than me darling, where have you been all my life?"

7 Sacha Baron Cohen's 'disguised' red-carpet entry
Despite warnings that he would not be allowed entry in his Dictator avatar, Sacha Baron Cohen not only gate-crashed the red carpet but even went about dropping the 'ashes' of North Korea leader Kim Jong Il on it too! The Borat star was then bundled off by security guards after pulling the publicity stunt for his upcoming film, The Dictator.

Showing up in full costume as his character General Aladeen, Baron Cohen was flanked by two stunning ladies as he was interviewed on the red carpet clutching a gold urn with the late North Korean leader's face on it.

8 Emma Stone overshadows Ben Stiller
When seasoned presenter Ben Stiller comes up on stage, you expect a few laughs but it was debutante presenter Emma Stone wo stole the show this time with her enthusiasm and digs at Stiller and his former presenting gags.

9 Gushing Octavia Spencer
When Octavia Spencer won the award for Best Supporting Actress for The Help, she seemed too nervous to speak coherently. However, she made up when she gushed about getting the award from Christian Bale, saying, "Thank you Academy for putting me with the hottest guy in the room."

10 AR Rahman's performance

For Indians, the moment when AR Rahman and his band along with Hans Zimmer, came to perform on stage, was definitely special. This was the first time Rahman was on stage since his Oscar victory for Slumdog Millionnaire music in 2009.
