Total number of swine flu patients rise to 8 in Jammu

The reports of two security personnel, who had gone to Pune and Hyderabad for admission of their kins, received from National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) New Delhi have been tested positive for swine flu, the Director of Health Services (DHS), Jammu, Dr Jasbir Singh on Friday said, adding their condition was stable.

"We had sent so far 64 samples of suspected swine flu to NICD Delhi and received 55 reports from there. Of these, eight have been positive and all of them are stable and improving," he said.

Over 3,500 people suspected to be suffering from swine flu were screened at various places in Jammu division, he said. The screening takes place at Jammu Airport, Yatri Niwas at Bhagwati Nagar Jammu city, Lakhanpur and at Katra, he said.

Besides, various teams of doctors have been deployed at Jammu railway station to take appropriate action in case of any need, he added.
