According to police sources, on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, the office of a local advocate was burgled with an intention to steal a computer set. It is learnt that the thieves came in an auto-rickshaw (HP 05-4151) and bolted the door of the room of the neighbours from outside.

The neighbours could not come out but did raise an alarm, forcing the culprits to flee the spot without taking away the computer.

The auto-rickshaw has been impounded and a case registered.

On the same night, thieves reportedly made an attempt to burgle the office of Himalayan Adventurer, a travel agency located on the Mall.

A few months back, two colour TVs were stolen from the office of the taxi operators’ union, Manali, and from the bar room of the local Bar Association.

The local police are unable to intensify regular night patrolling in the absence of sufficient staff, it is learnt.
