The rally was led by president, Prayag Parivahan Transport Union, Amar Vaish ‘Munna Bhaiyya, and president, Allahabad Galla Tilhan Vyapar Mandal, Satish Kesarwani.

The procession passed through Kothaparcha, Arya Kanya College and terminated at the Muthiganj main crossing.

Addressing the agitators, Kesarwani said prices had skyrocketed for all consumer items. He said a hike in diesel and petrol prices would result in an all-round hike in transportation charges as well as affect production from farms and factories which would be more costly and ultimately, wreck the backbone of the common man.

City president of the UP Udyog Vyapar Mandal said if the hike in diesel and petrol prices were not immediately withdrawn, traders would be forced to come out on the streets to protest.
