Train derails on Mangaluru-Hassan section

Two engines and one unreserved coach of Kannur/Karwar–Bengaluru Express derailed between Shirivagilu and Yadakumari stations of Mangaluru–Hassan section early on Monday but no casualties or injuries have been reported so far.

Two engines and one unreserved coach of Kannur/Karwar–Bengaluru Express derailed between Shirivagilu and Yadakumari stations of Mangaluru–Hassan section early on Monday but no casualties or injuries have been reported so far.

Traffic in this section has been temporarily disrupted and some trains have been rescheduled or cancelled, Southern Railway's Palakkad division said in a release in Kozhikode.



Arrangements have been made for taking the passengers of the derailed train No 16518/16524 by road to their destinations, the release said.



Train No 16515 Yeswantpur– Karwar Express scheduled to leave Yeswantpur on Monday has been cancelled, it said. Train No 16517/16523 Bengaluru–Kannur/Karwar Express, which left Bengaluru yesterday has been partially cancelled between Sakleshpur and Kannur/Karwar on Monday, it said.
