From the movies that hit the screens in the early 70s and 80s, the attire has covered a long journey of the fashion arena. It, however, vanished completely with the dresses like skirts and trousers taking its place.

But it seems now the dress designers are ready to adorn the fair sex with the similar graceful attire, but with a difference.

Kaftan became much more in fashion from the film Chalte Chalte in which it was worn by actress Rani Mukherjee. And now young girls of the city can be easily espied in this outfit.

According to Lali Priya, teacher in Fashion Design, University of Allahabad, the new avtaar of this outfit was introduced in the market in pastel colours. But now dark colours including pure red and black are much more in fashion.

Priya added the best suited fabrics for this attire are synthetic, georgette and chiffon with animal prints on it.

Besides, kaftan can be teamed up with salwar and kurta, plain jeans and full length long skirts.

Not only this, kaftan kurta pyjama in light shades including sky blue, white and pink are also attracting young girls.

This outfit blends well with the tank tops of matching colour of the kaftans, added Priya.
