Tributes paid to Ambedkar

TRIBUTES WERE paid to Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar on his 50th death anniversary on Wednesday. The activists of various organisations remembered him as a national hero whose ideologies are relevant for all and sundry.

Shafikurrehman, district president of Lok Janshakti Party in a seminar on ‘The relevance of thoughts of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar’, said that Dr Ambedkar was a great visionary who acted against heavy odds and emerged triumphant.

"The best example of his genius is the Indian Constitution, his brainchild. Even after 57 years of its existence it was guiding the nation remarkably," he said. Dr MH Chand said that it was not easy to establish an identity amongst the leaders of the stature of Mahatma Gandhi, Jawahar Lal Nehru and Subhash Chandra Bose but Ambedkar did so.

Another speaker Ghulam Qadir said that the present upheaval in Maharshtra testified to his popularity in that region.

Meanwhile, floral tributes were paid to Dr Ambedkar by the activists of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad at Hindi Department of Allahabad University. A seminar was held at JK institute where the speakers exhorted the people to emulate the ideals of Dr Ambedkar. The main speakers were Sivendra Mishra, Vivek Mishra, Sandeep Yadav, Ashutosh Mishra and others.
