Pawan Kumar, Deepak Prakash and Jitendra Lal had allegedly used the cell phone of a policewoman, which was lost sometime last year, to threaten businessman Amit Arora on April 3.

“We received several calls from the trio demanding Rs50 lakh. They threatened to kill me if I refused to pay up. After the calls, my family members decided to take the police’s help,” Arora said.

Senior superintendent of police Raghubir Lal said the three accused were held after Arora approached the force. “Three teams were made to track the accused. When questioned, the trio said they had got Arora’s cell phone number from a company hoarding at Sihani Gate,” Lal said.

The youths, all aged between 22 and 25, were arrested after their locations were verified through electronic surveillance and booked under Section 386 of the Indian Penal Code.
