Triveni Mahotsav begins today

EMINENT ARTISTES will grace the cultural extravaganza at Triveni Mahotsav scheduled to be held at Boat Club, Yamuna bank, from February 21 to 25. Commissioner Dr Lalit Verma whi le addressing mediapersons at his camp office here on Monday, said a campaign on AIDS awareness and family planning will also be launched on the occasion.

EMINENT ARTISTES will grace the cultural extravaganza at Triveni Mahotsav scheduled to be held at Boat Club, Yamuna bank, from February 21 to 25. Commissioner Dr Lalit Verma whi le addressing mediapersons at his camp office here on Monday, said a campaign on AIDS awareness and family planning will also be launched on the occasion.

Verma, who is also the president of the organising committee, said that the dual campaign of AIDS and family planning was being launched for the first time at Triveni Mahotsav.

The first day of the Mahotsav will offer star-studded performance by popular singer Anuradha Paudwal and famous folksinger Malini Awasthi. The event will start with Triveni Arti and Deepdan. Local artiste Manoj Gupta will present devotional songs on the opening day.

On February 22, Bhojpuri singer from Mumbai Prem Prakash Dubey will present bhajans and folksongs. A national level mushaira will feature renowned poets including Dr Rahat Indori, Munavvar Rana, Manjar Bhopali, Tahir Faraz, and several others.

Kishore Chaturvedi, singer from Lucknow, will entertain the audience on February 23. Besides other events such as folk dances of Punjab and Rajasthan and exclusive presentations by the artistes of North Central Zone Cultural Centre will also be staged.

Semi classical music will be presented by Mamta Sharma and Rudrashanker Mishra from Lucknow will present dance.

Pandit Vidyadhar Mishra of Banaras Gharana will mesmerise the audience with his classical vocals. National level poets’ conference will also be held on the same day which will be headed by Pandit Kesari Nath Tripathi. Gopal Das Neeraj, Som Thakur, Pradeep Chaubey, Kailash Gautam and several others poets will grace the occasion.

The concluding day will be marked with the performance of singer Shehnaz Bano of Lucknow and Punam Bajpayee.
