Truck seized with cows

HUNDREDS OF saffron brigade activists descended on the Vijaynagar police chowki after they seized a truck near Bhamori masjid in which five cows were being transported. The saffronites were claiming that the cows were being sent for slaughter and that some IMC officials were behind the selling of these cows for slaughter.

The police have registered cases under Gau Raksha Adhiniyam against the truck driver and cleaner. According to the saffronties the cows were being shifted from one truck to another near Bhamori masjid in a suspicious manner which resulted in some of their activists questioning the truck driver.

At this the driver told them that the cows belonged to the IMC. They had been caught by the IMC and were being transported to the jungle.

The saffronites said they were not convinced and asked for papers, which the IMC routinely issues when such cows are transported to the jungles.

However, the driver and cleaner failed to produce any papers. The saffonites then beat up the two and brought them to the Vijaynagar police chowki. The saffronites claimed that at that time they had talked to IMC removal official Rajesh Kothari and he too had said that the cows belonged to IMC.

IMC removal officer Rajesh Kothari talking to Hindustan Times said that the cows belonged to IMC and they had been rounded up by them and were being transported to the jungles when the saffronites descended on them.

CSP Jitendra Singh said that the cases have been registered as the IMC had failed to produce any papers despite claiming that the cows belonged to them. “We have been waiting for the past three to four hours for the papers but they have not come as yet,” he said.  The cows were being sent to Kazi House.
