Two arrested for transporting LPG illegally

Two people were arrested by the railway police for allegedly transferring LPG from cylinders into tins and then transporting them illegally.

Two people were arrested by the railway police for allegedly transferring LPG from cylinders into tins and then transporting them illegally.

Vikas Chaurasia and Shaikh Saliha were nabbed by the GRP and over Rs 43,000 worth of LPG cylinders were recovered from his residence, they said.

Chaurasia was nabbed at the Malad railway station while transporting tins filled with gas in violation of the law while Saliha was arrested on the basis of information provided by him.

The duo were allegedly involved in removing the pressurised gas from the cylinders and then transporting it in tins to manufacturing units that sell lighters, police said.

According to the police, the racket is active in regions like Kandivali, Mira Road and Bhayander.
