Two AU students held for clicking snaps of girls
ALLAHABAD UNIVERSITY (AU) officials nabbed two students taking photographs of girl students with the help of their mobile phones on the campus despite objections and during interrogation discovered nude and semi-nude pictures of unidentified girls in their cell phones on Wednesday.

Both the students have been suspended and handed over to the police.
The incident came to light when the culprits, identified as Manoj Kumar and Ashok Kumar Patel of BA-III, positioned themselves near the cycle stand and started taking pictures of some girl students passing by on the campus near the AU gate in front of the KPUC Hostel. The duo continued to click pictures despite objections raised by the girls.
Upset by the act, the girls raised an alarm and the duo was nabbed by the AU security personnel manning the gate and was brought to the proctor’s office. AU’s officiating proctor Prof RK Upadhyay during his investigation found a number of nude and semi-nude pictures of unidentified girls stored in the mobile set seized from the two accused.
AU authorities immediately held an emergency meeting that was attended by Prof RK Upadhyay, members of the AU Proctorial Board, Head of Women’s Advisory Board and Dean Students Welfare Prof Jagdamba Singh.
Taking a serious view of the incident, the officials decided to suspend the guilty students with immediate effect and report the matter to the cops.
On being contacted, Prof Upadhyay said, “We have taken the matter seriously and the university has lodged an FIR at the Colonelganj police station.”
“Several nude and semi-nude photographs of girls have been found in the mobile set recovered from the two students. The probability of involvement of a gang can not be ruled out and the police are interrogating the students in this regard,” Prof Upadhyay added.
