Two crore worth of electronic goods seized, one arrested

Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials on Thursday arrested one person who arrived at the airport here from Singapore and seized electronic goods worth Rs two crore from him.

Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials on Thursday arrested one person who arrived at the airport here from Singapore and seized electronic goods worth Rs two crore from him.

A DRI source said S Basheer Ahmed (36), who arrived from Singapore, declared that the value of goods brought by him was Rs 1.10 lakh. However, on a thorough checking, it was noticed that the two checked in baggages were stuffed with huge quantity of memory cards and RAM chips.

The total value of goods was estimated to be about Rs two crore and the passenger in his statement had admitted the offence, the sources said.
