Two die in after self-immolation over Sri Lankan issue

Two political activists who attempted self-immolation during anti-Sri Lankan government protests in different parts of Tamil Nadu succumbed to their burn injuries on Tuesday pushing the death toll through self-immolation on the issue to 11 since Decemver 2008.

Two political activists who attempted self-immolation during anti-Sri Lankan government protests in different parts of Tamil Nadu succumbed to their burn injuries on Tuesday, police said.

Identified as N Anand, 23, belonging to the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) party and M Rajasekhar, 24, of the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) party, the two had attempted self-immolation at Cuddalore and Ariyalur, respectively, police said.

With these deaths, the death-toll through self-immolation on the issue has reached 11 since December.
