Two Indians arrested on drug charges
Two Indian nationals were arrested at Hong Kong's airport for allegedly smuggling eight kilograms of the party drug ketamine into the territory, the government said on Sunday.
The suspects - a 19-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman - were arrested on Friday and Saturday with $2,82,050 worth of ketamine hidden in their luggage, the government said in a statement.
They will be charged with trafficking dangerous drugs, which carries a maximum penalty of life in prison and a fine of $641,000, the statement said.
The government said the suspects arrived from Kuala Lumpur. Their names and hometowns weren't given.
Ketamine is a powerful anaesthetic that can cause hallucinations and render the user unable to move.
