Two injured in grenade blast in Imphal

Two persons, including an executive engineer, were seriously injured when militants exploded a grenade at the engineer's residence in Imphal.

Two persons, including an executive engineer, were seriously injured when militants exploded a grenade at the engineer's residence in Imphal, capital of Manipur, police sources said on Friday.

The militants lobbed the grenade at the residence of Kh Shyam Chandram, an executive engineer attached with Manipur University, at Thongju Boroi Makhong area onThursday night injuring Chandra and one of his friends identified as L Megha. Both were taken to Regional Institute of Medical Science Hospital where their condition was stated to be serious, sources said.

Kh Bravy, son of Chandra, told local media that the militants had also fired at their house on April 14 last but no one was injured.

He said it was not known who had fired at their house. Sources said monetary demand by a militant outfit could have led to the attack but a thorough probe would be made in this regard.
