Son of an ex-MLA of ruling CPI(M) and a police constable were killed while two others, including a BSF jawan, were seriously wounded by a group of insurgents suspected to be of banned National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) in Dhalai district on Saturday, police said.

Gaganjoy Roaja, son of late Ananda Mohan Roaja, ex-MLA was taking tea in a stall at Durgapur in Gandacherra, a sub-divisional town when two insurgents draped in shawls opened fire and shot him dead, police said.
One BSF jawan who was also taking tea in the shop was seriously injured when bullets hit him, they said.
On receipt of information, a contingent of police chased the insurgents and an encounter ensued at neighbouring Nabodapara where a state police constable, Samar Debbarma was killed, police said adding an unidentified villager who was caught in the crossfire was injured and admitted to Gandacherra hospital.
The BSF jawan was rushed to GB hospital in critical condition, police said.
A few years ago a group of insurgents had killed Ananda Roaja, ex-MLA and father of Gaganjoy by raiding his house.
Superintendent of Police of Dhalai district has rushed to the spot with reinforcement and launched a search operation in the area.
