Fourteen-year-old Mohammad Afzal and five-year-old Akram Ashraf found the grenade in an open ground in Gawari village of Gandoh tehsil on Thursday and started fiddling with it.

The grenade exploded killing both of them on the spot.

Hearing the explosion, locals rushed to the site and informed police and security authorities.

The grenade is believed to have been left in the area by militants.

Four Lashker-e-Toiba militants were killed and three security personnel were injured in an encounter on March 19, about one km away from the site of the explosion in the same village.
