Two killed in Gurgaon court shootout

The incident took place when six unknown men entered the Sessions Court and opened many rounds of fire.

A notorious gangster and a criminal were killed in a shootout between police and unidentified gunmen inside the crowded Sessions Court premises here this morning, police said.

Gangster Hardutt, who was to be produced before Additional District Session Judge RC Geodora in connection with a murder case, was killed when assailants opened fire at him in the presence of scores of people and policemen.

He was killed on the spot.

Police then fired back, killing an assailant, who has not been identified yet. However, his accomplices managed to flee from the scene and a hunt is on to nab them, police officials said.

Hardutt, a resident of Khandasa in Sadar Gurgaon, was a known criminal against whom at least 16 cases, including murder charges, were pending, they said.

Another criminal identified as Wazeer, who was inside the court complex at the time of the shootout for production in connection with another case, suffered bullet injuries in the leg during the firing, eyewitnesses said.
