Police said the operation had started early Saturday morning and lasted for several hours.

"Two Pakistani terrorists of the LeT were killed in the encounter in Budhal area," a police spokesman said.

"One of the slain terrorists has been identified as Abu Hamza, while the identity of the other terrorist is yet to be ascertained," he said.

According to the spokesman, the gun battle in the thick forests of Budhal area of Rajouri, about 180 km north of Jammu, ensued after the team raided their hideout and asked them to surrender. They, instead, opened fire at the security personnel.
