Two unidentified militants were killed in a fierce gun-battle in Kupwara district of North Kashmir today, a senior police officer said.

Two unidentified militants were killed in a fierce gun-battle in Kupwara district of North Kashmir on Sunday, a senior police officer said.
The militants were killed in Kachihama-Douban forest in Trehgam belt, 120 kms from Srinagar, Senior Superintendent of Police, Kupwara, Uttam Chand said.
The encounter started this afternoon when a joint party of police and army confronted a group of militants hiding in the forest area, he said, adding the identity and group affiliation of the slain militants were yet to be established.
