Two soldiers injured in Bandipora encounter
Two soldiers have been injured in a continuing battle with terrorists in Rampore village of Bandipora district in north Kashmir, reports Tejinder Singh Sodhiindia Updated: Nov 24, 2006 22:17 IST
A furious gun battle is going on between the Army and a group of heavily armed terrorists who had taken refuge in a house in village Rampore of Bandipora district in north Kashmir.
Two soldiers have been seriously injured.
According to the PRO 15 Corps of the Indian Army, Lt Colonel Anil Kumar Mathur, Army acting on a tip-off that a group of three to four terrorists were holding up in a house in Rampore Village of Bandipora, cordoned off the area and asked the hidden terrorists to surrender.
Unheeding thesurrender call,the terrorists started firing indiscriminately towards the Army in which two soldiers received bullet injuries.
“Two of our jawans have received bullet injuries and they have been shifted to army hospital. The encounter is still going on but we are maintaining maximum restrain to avoid collateral damage, and we are hopeful that we will bring all the terrorists down,” the PRO said.
At the time of filing this report the encounter was still going on and no causality on part of the holding terrorists was yet ascertained.
