WITH THE beginning of the admissions, crooks have started frequenting the constituent colleges of Allahabad University and presenting themselves as student leaders to the students in dire need of admission.

Two cases of forgery were reported at Ishwar Sharan Degree College (ISDC) where the crooks took away cash from students against confirmed admission in college on Monday.
A student named Sandeep Kumar Mishra has complained to the college authorities about a so-called student leader Pinto who took away Rs 8000 from him against false assurance of admission in BSc (Computer Science). On checking the merit list it was found that Sandeep's score was 176 and his admission was confirmed as the merit list came down upto 160.
In another case Prakash Prajapati son of Banshi Lal also lost his money to a so-called student leader to secure admission in BSc. Prakash has also lodged a complaint with the principal.
ISDC principal Dr Anand Shankar Singh said that the college administration warns through announcement on mike to safeguard the students against such crooks active on the campus during the admission period. The entire procotrial board keeps a strong vigil on the campus during the admission process.
"The students, however, pay no heed to such announcements and fall prey to such crooks looking for innocent students striving for admission in the college. The students should remain alert and report to the college authorities about any such persons offering guaranteed admission to the students", added Dr Singh.
The student leaders of college have called it an unfortunate incident. They said that the students should recognise the student leaders and they should contact the college authorities for admission instead of taking help from the so-called student leaders who malign the image of the student leaders.
