Officials on Sunday said the gun battle broke out on Saturday night at Ranipora in Shopian area, 60 kms from Srinagar, when the terrorists opened fire at a search team of security forces.

The house where the terrorists were taking shelter was also damaged in the firefight that lasted several hours, officials said.
