Two ULFA ultras were killed in an encounter with a joint army and police team on Wednesday in Nalbari district in Assam.
Police said acting on a tip-off, the security forces raided Sapaiguri village under Mukalmuwa police station.
On seeing the team, the militants lobbed a grenade at the forces, which retaliated killing the duo on the spot.
An improvised explosive devise (IED), a Chinese grenade and an Australian pistol with live ammunition were recovered from the slain insurgents, they added.
